The Rundown: A dangerous truth is revealed and a meeting of the superpowers could lead to the death of one.
Magus tells Eliza the truth about what happened to him the last time the group faced a world shattering threat. A threat that caused a permanent change in Eliza. As he reveals the truth, she silences him with a kiss as the two get closer and recall the events that broke them apart as they discuss what happens now that they are back together.
At the same time, Etienne pays a visit to Heavy to discuss the upcoming meeting he’s called with the other superpowers. A meeting that he will use to discuss things like Heavy’s son after telling his fellow superpower about the woman he directed his way. As the pair discuss their agenda for the world, Etienne is unaware that he has a target on his back.
The Story: Gillen consistently creates interesting and unique stories in this series. This story has some amazing character moments and great surprises throughout. I continue to love the world of this story and all of the events both teased and realized grab and hold my attention as the world continues to unfold. I cannot wait to see where this story goes next.
The Art: Wijngaard crafts beautiful art throughout the issue. I love the visual aesthetic showing the events of past and present combined. A fantastic, awe inspiring artistic achievement.
